Anything Is Possible!
by Susie
Davies-Splitter and Phil Splitter
- the second album in the 'Personal Positive Power' series of original and uplifting songs to motivate, energise and inspire.
Review
My year 4 class were unanimous in their response to the new Susie Davies-Splitter and Phil Splitter album - "These songs should be on the top 40". Susie and Phil have done it again in producing an album which children love and teachers will find invaluable.
'Anything is Possible' is a remarkable compositional achievement, featuring a variety o f musical styles, ranging from country, blues and gospel to ballads, pop and rock. Beautiful melodies and colourful harmonies reflect the uplifting themes captured in the songs. As in previous albums, Susie and Phil utilise a wide range of instruments enhancing the diversity of styles.
Each song provides teachers with many options for musical exploration. Body percussion, tuned and untuned percussion and improvisation can all be incorporated to develop students understanding and expression of the elements of music, e.g. beat, rhythm, harmony, pitch and ostinato. The vocal improvisations are musically inspiring and can be used as a model for students to develop their own skills.
The general suggestions for use accompanying the album provide creative ideas for students to discuss and reflect on the themes presented. These suggested activities will reinforce student learning and understanding, enhancing their musical performance. These songs would be ideal for school performances, concerts and graduations.
'Anything is Possible' is available in kit form which includes CD plus Baktraks (for which teachers are truly grateful!), lyric book and choral arrangements of all songs. All three items can also be purchased separately. Attractively presented with easy to follow content, the music specialist and general classroom teacher is sure to find this album a rich and valuable resource.

If all children are involved in music from a young age then there will ultimately be more HARMONY in the world. Let's work towards making music an important part of our lives and our children's lives. |
