The Teachers' Edition of the latest Shenanigans collection, Animal Magic is now available. It consists of a 20 page illustrated book in A4 format, which contains lyrics, activities, and musical scores, plus 15 action based songs on a "Childrens CD" and 35 additional explanatory and backing tracks on a separate "Teachers CD".
Animal Magic is co-written by Gary King, founding member of Shenanigans, and Tony Leonard, recently of Lightning Creek Band. In addition to catchy and entertaining songs the material is designed to support developmental in music and movement, for example pitch recognition, echo singing, dancing making using a variety of elements such as gesture, formation and locomotion, playing tuned and untuned percussion instruments, the making and playing of "little instruments". Some featured items include Bellbird, Spider on the Wall, Fred the Flea, Eucalypso, At the Farm Zoo Party and a new look at Highway Number One and Koori Dreamtime.
