MARIMBA SONGS is a book and 2 CD set containing 21 songs for children with easy accompaniment for marimbas and xylophones. It follows the successful format of Jon's previous songbook MARIMBA MUSIC FOR LITTLE KIDS except that these songs are pitched at middle and upper level primary school students. Singers and instrumentalists include Franciscus Henri, Ernie Gruner, Petice Malviste, Lynda Morrow and the South Geelong Primary School choir. All lyrics (except for 1 song) are written by Jon. Melodies include 5 classical and 6 traditional or composed tunes. CD 1 includes vocals. CD 2 is without vocals. The price in Australia is $60 for the set. (inc. GST). |

Jon Madin has been running workshops in marimba playing for 10 years. He has also been involved in designing and making marimbas and other do-it-yourself instruments. His musical background includes playing in bush and old-timey bands, playing in early music consorts and an orchestra, singing in choirs and exploring the sound possibilities of many ethnic and wacky instruments. He has also taught classroom music at all school levels. |
