The
American Music Conference site
<www.amc-music.org/>.
It has some good info on Music Advocacy, as well as a wide
variety of other info, and links to other relevant sites. I
have downloaded from this site to the VOSA site (to save
download time) a
Powerpont presentation (1 Mb)
and a Acrobat
file (360K) "Music Advocacy
Guidebook"
which has lots of ideas and resources and research results
for advocating music in your school community.

MuSICA
Research Notes SUBJECT INDEX: Dr.
Norman M. Weinberger of the University of California who is
largely responsible for the Champions of Change report on
the Arts in Education has a website associated with a
journal called MuSICA which looks at all areas of research
into music education and has a wealth of articles supporting
the cognitive, social etc values of music in education.
There's a subject index which includes everything from 'the
Impact of the arts on adolescent learning' to 'Musical
Infants and the Roots of Consonance'. There's masses of
stuff there. It's

to the Pentatonic Music Collection - an extensive site with
lots of music
examples!
The PENTATONIC MUSIC
COLLECTION consists of songs and compositions in which the
notes of the melody are confined to do, re, mi, so, and la.
According to Kodaly, Orff, and other theorists in music
education, restriction to these five tones simplifies
matters considerably, especially for less experienced
students.
