St Leonard’s College is seeking an enthusiastic, vibrant and committed strings teacher to lead its thriving string and orchestral program as the Head of Strings. The commencement date for this permanent full time position will be as soon as practical, but no later than the start of term 2, Tuesday 18 April 2017. Overview of the position - The Head of Strings is responsible for both the delivery of all private string lessons and also the coordination and leadership of the College’s orchestral program (currently 2 symphony orchestras, 1 primary orchestra and 3 string orchestras) and the College’s chamber music program (including string quartets and piano trios). The Head of Strings will be part of the Music Performance leadership team.

Percussion Teacher (Listed 6 January 2017)
Sacred Heart College, Kyneton, is a Catholic Co-Educational Secondary College, conducted by the Sisters of Mercy. (Enrolment: approx 850)
An enthusiastic sessional Percussion Teacher is required to commence in Term 1, 2017. As a member of our Music Department, you will be joining a large professional group of dedicated music teachers and will be very well supported through excellent facilities. The successful applicant will have a high level of technical ability and experience as a percussionist (especially drum kit); have excellent music teaching skills; sound communication and organisational skills; and be registered with the VIT or have a current Working With Children accreditation. This position also involves direction of a Percussion ensemble. The time fraction can vary, based upon enrolment numbers within the Music program, but currently sits at approximately one day per week. This is open to significant growth.

Our Team consists of String Players - you must have a minimum standard of AMEB 6 or equivalent on either VIOLIN - VIOLA or CELLO.

Position Available - Monash Jazz Orchestra (MoJO) Director, Monash University Philharmonic Society, Location: Monash University, Clayton Campus, Victoria, Australia

Remuneration: From $500 per season, $1500 per year paid at/after each concert; negotiable; Will be dependent upon applicant’s experience (accommodation and all meals will be provided on rehearsal camps).
Employment type/Duration: Part-time; Ongoing; commencing Tuesday February 28th 2017. 3 hours/week on average during the university semester (approximately 30 weeks per year) plus concerts and three weekend rehearsal camps.
The Monash University Philharmonic Society (MUPS) is a student run music society affiliated with Monash University. MUPS coordinates three major groups: the Monash Jazz Orchestra (MoJO), the Monash Symphonic Winds (MSW) and the Monash Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) as well as many small ensembles. The society attracts members from students, alumni and staff bodies as well as the general community. The society aims to promote music at the university by encouraging musicians of all skill levels to join, and give students an avenue through which they can continue playing their instrument and performing even though they may not be studying music. We also maintain a lively social atmosphere through camps, parties, movie nights and sporting events.
Whilst membership varies from season to season, the Monash Jazz Orchestra generally encompasses a full big band instrumentation of about 18 auditioned players. Duties of the MoJO conductor include auditioning all members of the band, programming repertoire for the band, planning and undertaking weekly rehearsals and rehearsal camps, conducting three major concert per year as well as additional performances as required, liaising with the society committee and general members, and organising extra rehearsals or performances as appropriate. Applicants should possess a high level of musical knowledge in instrumental playing, extensive experience in conducting big bands, and effective communication and teaching skills to engage with the players.
