Venue : Candlebark Farm, Healesville
Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Rd, Healesville

The first community-built marimba in Australia  was made by a group of parents and children with Jon Madin and Andy Rigby at a family music camp in 1991. It was of the original design using PVC pipe resonators, based on plans Andy had brought back from Zimbabwe  in 1990.

Since then Australian marimbas have proliferated and can now be found in hundreds of schools here as well as in New Zealand, Indonesia, the USA, Germany and Japan.

Marimba camps have been held each year since 1993, with Jon and Andy as principal teachers.

The camps cater for people of all ages and backgrounds (including families) and require only an interest in marimbas and music making. Specific sessions are offered to teachers, and educational resources (including references and recordings produced by Jon and Andy) will be available for purchase. Workshops are a great way for teachers to gather ideas.

Join us for a memorable weekend of music making! It will feature playing, singing, dancing, listening, performing and improvising. This year we are delighted that Brent Holl will be holidaying in Australia and has agreed to be a presenter for this weekend!
