Alena Schneider is giving 2 sessions:
1. drumming and 2. Songs from West Africa and body percussion

About our presenter:
Alena is currently studying music at the Victorian College of the Arts. Since starting on the drumkit at the age of 10, she has fuelled her instrument addiction by branching out into all sorts of classical, mallet and African percussion. Alena has taken extended tours to Ghana where she has played and studied drum and dance with renowned members of cultural groups ‘Salaka’ and internationally acclaimed ‘Kusun Ensemble’. She currently works at Voyeur Rhythmic Centre for West African Drumming in St Kilda, teaching night classes and running school and youth workshops.
