
RICHARD E. (Dick) WATT retired in 1996 after 36 years as a public school music educator, 31 of those in Mesa, Arizona, where he was Educator of the Year in 1984. The last 12 years in Mesa, he served as Supervisor of Mesa’s Elementary General Music Program.
He holds a Bachelor and Masters degree in music, a Supervisors Certificate, a Masters Level endorsement in Orff Schulwerk and is a former co‑owner/teacher of a private music pre-school.
Dick has been an adjunct university and community college district faculty member, teaching Music for Classroom Teachers. He served for seven years as teacher and consultant, facilitating a music program for preschoolers and kindergartners.
He has presented workshops for local Orff chapters and at national conferences for various educational organizations. He continues to present music and movement workshops, teaches folk dance, and movement for Orff Certification classes. His latest field of endeavor is teaching music and movement activities to senior citizens at Adult Retirement Residences.
